I never knew South Park was so Politically funny

Watch the "I'm a little bit country" episode. First episode of season 7.

Or the Faith+1 Episode.

Southpark is very political. A lot of people dismiss the show as toilet humor before really looking at it.

They take on pretty much everything. Not just politics.

Everything i learned about Mormons and Scientology, I learned through South Park.

I love the new scientology episode where they put the big 'THIS IS WHAT SCIENTOLOGISTS ACTUALLY BELIEVE' across the center of the screen... hilarious.

IMO, it got political in season 2 -- specifically, ep 17 -- Underpants Gnomes. Also, that episode is the genesis of the joke:

Step 1: Collect Underpants
Step 2: ????
Step 3: Profit!

Edit: forgot to close the quote, typo.

Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman moving into Academia
As pointed out to us by kittenindublin, South Park is getting some attention -- from professors who study popular culture. In an upcoming essay collection, Central Michigan University English professor Jeffery Weinstock and others will discuss topics of race, religion, sexuality, and politics -- using South Park to do it. Who knew class could be so much fun?

Starting from what season? how many seasons were there?
I'm not an expert on that. It just got more and more political over the years.

I think they may have gotten the new techonology around Season 5? There are currently 8 complete seasons, and 9 is wrapping up.

Season 4 has computer generated graphics on the intro I think (unless my episodes are mis-named), so I guess they may have got it for season 4. But I;m going on the different intro the used for season 4.

The douche vs turd sandwich election episode was great.
"Stan every election is between a douche and a turd sandwich cause they are the only ones that kiss up enough to make it that far."

After the Mormon episode, I went to the Internet, looked up what Mormon's actually believe. Then, the next time I watched that Southpark episode, as they sang "dum dum dum dum dum", I was laughing twice as hard - simply because I found out that Southpark was actually presenting their beliefs accurately.

I never looked up the scientology beliefs... as a result of the Mormon episode, I trust Southpark and now feel that scientologists are 10 times as retarded as I originally thought.

I've read up a bit on Scientology and from what I know, the show was completely accurate it the description of what they believe.

They would have to be, though. Scientologists are sue happy and would have brought up a law suit immediately if it weren't.

A great site for info if you're interested:

I didn't know that Scientologists used a device until the episode about them.

e meter

The current episode's funniest part for me was when they used Timmy's wheelchair to pull the whale from the amusement park & Timmy whispered "Timmy" as they were sneaking into the park.

Made me laugh my ass off, still does...

I think South Park is abosolutely brilliant. If it was nothing more than piss and fart jokes, it would have never lasted this long. South Park may very well be the only "fair and balanced" program on television - everybody and everything has an equal opportunity of being a "victim" of South Park's social and political commentary.

I found the ending of the Mormon episode and the ending of the Scientologist episode to be quite different. In the end of the Mormon episode, the kids say something like, "I learned something today. It doesn't matter what the background is for your religion, but how you live your life according to those beliefs. The Mormons seem very happy, and if that works for them, then it's just fine."

At the end of the Scientologist episode, they were saying something like,
"Sue me. Sue me. Sue me. Sue me. I dare you."

yea sometimes southpark is awesome, other times its just dumb fun.

this weeks was about the 12 step program and stuff😉

reminds me of that penn and teller bs program on it, i had no idea it was basically religious nutters:

That's because the Church of Scientology has a habit of suing anybody that is the least bit critical of their "religion". So that and the credit roll was part of the joke.
