The guy that runs/hosts my forums with me had some system problems. We have to start completely over with my forums. *UGH* My question is this.... Should I keep the addy the same (www.gigglygrinch.com/forums) or should I change it to www.forums.gigglygrinch.com? Or...any other ideas? We're also switching from UBB to Invision Power Board.

Thanks.

should be forums.gigglygrinch.com ... looks best. It's always best to have your forums running in a separate virtual server.

I agree, forums.gigglygrinch.com is better. The only place that I know of that doesn't use that protocol is fatwa11et.

Anyway, good luck with the new board.

Thanks. The sucky part is that we can't get any data back from the database. :( That means all pictures and stuff I had stored there are gone. :( (I have some backed up, but not all.) Also, when we redo the forums, that means everyone will have to re-register. It's a fresh start.

I had this happen a few years ago... I ran a board with several hundred users, then one day the server died. My host tried to restore from backups, but apparently they were no good either.

It sucks, but sometimes it's a blessing in disguise. :)

Good luck! Grrrr..... :D

I agree, good choice on InvisionBoard it's free, efficient and has a ton of mods/skins available for it.

The URL should be forums.gigglygrinch.com

Shhhhhhhh! Not *everyone* needs to know about those! :p

Ick. That sucks. I think we were at around 331 members if I remember right. Not all were active, so I suppose it will be nice to have a fresh start. I'm just bummed that I lost all the stuff that I had stored there. It would have been really hard for me to back everything up before. I didn't have a burner. I do now, (as of March) but I didn't even think about it.

Yeah, we had a test forum up and running with Invision and I really liked it. I know there will be a period of getting used to it, but it seemed really nice. :D

Yeah, in a way I kind of like starting over...but it will be a PITA. ;) What do *you* think about the addy? www.gigglygrinch.com/forums or www.forums.gigglygrinch.com.

BTW: I tried to edit the original post because I forgot to include a poll....and I didn't see that I could do it. Is it possible to edit and add a poll or did I screw up and it's too late?
