I have 2 problems. Problem #1 is that my computer is too slow. I have a Soyo SY-6VCA mobo which almost everyplace rates very well, and a p3 600Eb Slot 1 cpu with 128 mb pc100 ram. Let me tell you, this thing is SLOW. My friends' PIIs are faster than it and I am wondering if I will noticeably increase my speed by switching to an Abit SH6 mobo and pc133 ram. Thank you, now for Problem 2: I have a tv tuner/vid. capture card which is plagued with stupid interlacing, and so far the only capture card I have heard of which deinterlaces is the AIW Radeon, which gives a lower fps when deinterlacing is turned on. If anyone has this, is there a noticeable drop in fps with deinterlace on? Or, can anyone tell me if there is a capture card that does not have interlacing? Thank you again.
PLEASE HELP, ANY ADVICE IS WELCOME!

It might not be your motherboard. What programs do you have running in the background? Are you sure you dont have IRQ conflicks? Did you try to just reinstall windows and all your drivers? I would look into all of that before spending money, sounds like you have a ok setup

Okay so you mean you are runing your 4.5*133 p3 at 4.5*100 or maybe even 4.5*66 make sure you set ur fsb at 133MHz(your ram might crap out and force you to reset cmos though)

No, the FSB settings are all fine. I don't have any IRQ conflicts either. It detects it fine as a PIII 600 EB with 133 FSB speed. The thing I don't understand is why I kept hearing the Soyo boards are good (arstechnica).

When you say the machine is slow, like in what situation you feel that it's slow? compared to other 600EB?

I doubt it's the motherboard causing you problems. Give us the rest of your system.

Yeah, I have DMA enabled but I don't have any benchmarking software. Ok the motherboard is the Soyo SY-6VCA, I have a Slot1 Pentium 3 600EB coppermine processor and 128 MB of PC100 ram. The reason I suspect the motherboard is because my mom's computer has a Soyo SY-6VBA133 or something like that and it is very slow. Esung- it is slow compared to my friends' P2's which are not overclocked. Windows 98 boots up SLOW, applications run SLOW, divx encoding is SLOW (5-6 fps). I dunno what other info you guys need.

We need the other components of your system. Things like your hard drive and video card are major parts of your pc. They can really speed up or slow down your pc. You never said how many other programs you had running either. This too is a major factor. For example, let's say your friend's p2 had a geforce2 and a 10000 rpm scsi hard drive and nothing but win98 and a virus program loading on startup. Now lets say that you have an old voodoo1 video card and a old hard drive that you took out of your old dell pentium 133 pc. Then on boot, we'll say you have your virus program, icq, napster, real audio, and musicmatch all starting up with windows. Your friend's pc would smoke yours!!! Do you get it now?

mine was running slow just as you described , i checked everything and couldnt find a thing wrong with it. i ran norton system check , and it found a crapload of probs (windoze) after that it ran great. if that doesnt do it , try removing your expansion cards one by one till you have just the video card in there.

Ok, I'll see if I can list all the components: Seagate 17GB IDE Harddrive (not sure if it's 5400 or 7200), AGP Stealth II G460 Vid Card, 2 Voodoo II cards in SLI mode (PCI), TV tuner card (PCI), SoundBlaster PCI 64 sound card (PCI). I don't have any unecessary programs in my Startup. I still can't help but blame the stupid motherboard that's why I am looking into maybe getting an Abit SH6 and better ram.

Check your device manager & get the name of your hard drive. Your video is one of your problems.
That Stealth card has the Intel 740 chipset. I'm being kind when I say it's not the greatest. Your sli Voodoo 2 setup is also way past it's prime. Instead of getting another motherboard, you should look into getting a more up to date video card. You should try some of the benchmark programs so you can get a better understanding of where your system stands.
