I know its a bit annoying, but there are some bright people in this forum when it comes to hardware. Let me know what you think.

BTW, the scenario is: My mobo is going and I need to replace it. So, that means also an upgrade. I have a 6800 Ultra (AGP), so hence the missing PCI-E slot. But, this is just a small upgrade to fit the budget and the situation.

Mobo

CPU

...and Memory.

Like I said, I have the HDDs, PSU, case, and everything else. Does everything look compatible and good?

Downgrade to a 3200+ (retail boxed, unless you'd like an aftermarket heatsink), possibly switch to an NF3 board (like the Epox EP-9NDA3+ or MSI K8N Neo Platinum), and do an easy overclock to 2.2GHz or possibly more. (You can probably reach 2.2 or 2.4 with stock heatsink and no bump in VCore. The A64 stock HSF is unusually good for overclocking, so it may take you to the current top-out range of 2.6-2.7 for air cooling.)

I'm not interested in overclocking.
 
I think you are al good, except I really would just get an Nforce 4 board that has an AGP slot. That way you don't have to buy a new board later on as well....nice CPU and the Ram will work with that mobo.

If you are in to OC'ing TS34 has a good point....those A64's are known to all clock to the same speed...."everyone's doin' it man...come on!!" 😉 But regardless stick with socket 939

Nforce 4 Doesnt have AGP support so no agp with Nforce 4.

I dont see any nForce4 boards (939) with an AGP port on newegg....any recommendations?

Looks good to me,anything but MSI.😉

Asus is fine with me but kinda wasted on you if you're not overclocking,maybe the urge will hit you later. 😀
 
Any reason you aren't using the mem from your old build? I am guessing the older ram wasn't the reason the motherboard was crapping out on you of course...

I am also eyeing the same setup as you, but will most likely get the 3200 rather than the 3500 and give a small OC bump to it. when I feel the 'urge'. I have 512 megs of Corsair XMS3200 ram, so no need to buy that either.

Now just to hope my mobo holds on for a month or two longer as I hear AMD is having a Valentines day price cut party for us all out here...
 
I do not mean this in a personal way or a flame, but i've noticed people who are "I'm not interested in overclocking" basicly are saying "I'm not interested in saving money." Honestly why not OC a 3200 and save a couple hundred, you're garenteed pretty much to reach 3500 speeds on stock cooling with virtually no risk. Anyways it's a nice computer you're building but i'd also have to agree go with socket 939 to save money once again in the long run.
 
Yes, coalfax, my old memory (pc2700) is just that...old and slow. I'm ready to get to some fast RAM. As for the OC comments, yes...I dont want to fuse or deal with what might be some headaches that *might* come with it. Besides, with using your reasoning...I could just oc my 3500 if I really wanted to to 3700 speeds, right?

 
I would personally get the K8N Neo2 Platinum. The Nforce boards have a lot more features and are faster than the VIA based boards.

I would also reccommend saving money and getting the 3200+ Even if you are not going to OC it is almost as fast as the 3500+ and MUCH cheaper.

THe RAM looks fine, nice cheap, and OCs decently.

Looks great. I'm doing the same thing in the next few days, but going with a 3200+ and will overclock to the 3500+ speeds 🙂
