I need to shift-delete less.

What does shift-delete do? Insta-delete? If so, I have my PC set up to bypass confirmation and the recycle bin... so I guess it would be the same, 'cept I don't push the shift key.

I always Insta-delete.
 
/me thinks some people should take more care before deleting files (no, I'm not necessarily directing this at the OP)... I used to occasionally have deleter's remorse, back in the day, but I learned to keep just about everything in some manner... and only delete things when I'm more than 100% sure that there is *never* a reason I would need that file again. I try to be as certain as possible, since its not very easy to retrieve deleted files deleted from most CLIs... DOS, Windows Command Interpreter, Linux, NetWare, etc.

It's inevitable. This is why they have the recycle bin in Windows. I hate it, disable it and remove it from the desktop. (well where I am allowed to hehe) If I want to delete something, I don't want to do it twice! If I screw something up (and this happens more than I care to mention!) I rely on backups. Oh dear what would the world be without backups? 😉

So what is the difference between backups and recycle bin? 😕

 
I have a bin directory which I throw random stuff in which I download, everything from psp homebrew, to jpegs I find on newsgroups, rars I download.. etc.. everything else on every other drive is absolutely organized, to the point where I know exactly where every file is. the only place which is disorganized is that bin directory.. with directories like New Folder(12) and so forth...

Step 1: backup folder "Pr0nXXX_this_r0xx0rz111" to DVD/CD/FDD/whatever
Step 2: delete folder "Pr0nXXX_this_r0xx0rz111"
Step 3: Realize you need folder "Pr0nXXX_this_r0xx0rz111" late one Friday night
Step 4: Restore folder "Pr0nXXX_this_r0xx0rz111" from backup
Step 5: Profit!
