Yeah, those wireless controlled fans suck. The wireless units on ours keep crapping out, and are a bit expensive to keep having to replace. Go ahead and pull over a third wire. You can bypass those controlls if you know what you are doing.

Problems with your Hampton Bay fan
First and foremost, Hampton Bay ceiling fans have a lifetime warranty. Since they are the house brand of Home Depot, and sold only in Home Depot stores and websites, Home Depot honors the Hampton Bay warranty. So if your fan breaks or fails, often times the easiest solution is to return the fan to Home Depot for a full replacement under warranty. [/b]

Won't they replace it under warranty? I had a fan failed ( different manufacturer ) for a bad ballast a few days ago. It was 5 years old and I didn't have a receit but since they didn't make replacement parts anymore they shipped me a new (different model ) one. I had to pay shipping for the return of the old one but maybe Home Depot would do the exchange.
The fan isn't broken.

If I had been the original purchaser of the fan and could prove it (receipt), they would have given me a new fan. Considering the fan I have is discontinued I imagine it'd have to be a comparable fan.

I kinda already did that, although they are black and white (just like the power coming in) along with a blue for the light (which isn't installed).

However, that link gave me another idea to try. Spin the blade in the right direction, push the button to turn it on, flick the power off and on. I'll have to do the latter with the breaker so I'll have to put a helper into the equation.

Let's see, me on a ladder, one hand on a blade, another on fan remote, phone in the crook of my neck to signal someone at the breaker. Oh yeah, this could be fun.

SUCCESS!!

I had to spin the fan in the right direction, then turn it on, then had to have the daughter cycle the breaker twice. WOOT!!

Now, what am I going to do with the $50 HD gift card?:D
