I need to play Diablo II. Where should I go to learn the strategy?

If you guys are that bored just download a character editor and duel with the cheat chars. See whose best character beats em all.
 
i've done that before. some classes are better fighting one type than others. 🙂

like how paladins own amazons, or amazons own necros. heh
 
I'm fairly new to Diablo2, played tons of Diablo. Only tried the Amazon so far (single player) & enjoyed it.

What characters, esp the new ones, are best for D2 coop games. Not interested in dueling at all?

is cheating, PK'ing as common in D2 as it was in Diablo?

Anyone have any heads up on good clans/guilds or games to look for?
 
Ah this Diablo 2 talk. I might have to get into it again. I still want to sell most of my good items on e*bay and then delete all but my level 34 tweaker.

Brotherman: I think you were "accepting donations" but I see you have high level characters. You wouldn't use any of the stuff I have!
 
Holy crap, you guys got some killer characters. I have trouble just getting my level 26 Necromancer up and up in levels. Don't know how you guys do it, multiple characters, and all strong as hell.

Any tips for Necros? I was freaking stupid and used my skill points for the stupidest things. Used 5 for the stupid skeletons... %&@(*#&. What's a good way to protect against fire besides armor with fire attributes? I always get wrecked by them fire breathers...
 
If you are a Sourceress then LEARN STATIC FIELD.. STATIC STATIC STATIC... get it to 10-15lvl and then glacial spike to 10 or so.

Go and finish normal and do nightmare, just tag along with other players.

Then learn rise dead..its a 30lvl spell but it is going to rock your world. Skeleton mages are also good as cannon fodder, I have mine at around 8 or so. Then a golem is nice, blood is extremely good to have.
 
dcdomain, get lots more fire resist. 🙂 the most important resists in the game are lightning and fire.

lvl44 old school sorc (screwed up on this one... ~7 points in fireball... lol 🙁 stopped playing her long ago)
lvl38 amazon (was going to be a strafezon, but 1.04 screwed up strafe a bit and i wished i went multi instead. i still have ~10 skill points saved up though... hehe, don't know if i should continue this one or start a new one.)
lvl33 tweaker sorc (my first character built with good gear😀)

lvl63 barb (stupid friend put points in spear mastery... 🙁 no dueling for me... stuck with lances. heh)

2 lvl~32 barbs (for my little bro and sis)


static is the key to life for sorcs. =)
the "standard"/common combo is high static with frozen orb.
 
the new breed of sorcs is max static. orb is still main killing tool, but high lvl static is annoying to all clases short of a zon. new barbs are of s/s flavor with all vit points, my lvl43 barb has near 1200 base and 1819 life after battle orders 🙂

as for necros, honestly i have no clue... for PvM i hear revive kix some serious ass. for pvp go max IM/BS and use bonewalls and fire golem. even for necros high life seems to help out quite a bit. oh most necros i have seen use sigon's guard.

while we are at it, does anyone wanna spare me an imbue? i got some uniques i could give ya for your trouble 🙂

I just got diablo II last week. I can't beleive etoys had it for 15 bucks!

Anyway, you can assign "hot keys" for various tasks like drinking potions, I think the function keys but I'm not positive.
 
Ok time to fire back up diablo2 after reading all this talk.
Ive been playing baldurs gate 2 for a while now.
Never dualed at all.
Have been playing a coop game.
What are some good server to play on.
I have some old barbs in mid 30 and 40 levels.

I am playing Palladin, what skills should I aim towards? I know Redemption is good, but it's WAYYYY far ahead 🙂 Thanks.
 
Only play B-NET. Never waist your time playing anything else... as it's all done in vein.

I have a lvl 65 barb with 20 a Grim Scyth. He's pretty fun.

I don't duel. I think it's boring.. chasing chasing.. then again, I think a level 65 barb is boring too.. sometimes he dies in the Chaos sanct, but mostly always because of lag.

My favorite play time is a new character thru level 20. Those are the most fun levels... because it's the hardest. level 20-30 is the boringest...
 
Play and figure out your own strategy. You may need special strategy on bosses and those can be obtained from numerous websites.
 
whitedog, go back and readmy ministrat... high lvl paly are VERY good, except they get slaughtered by sorcs 🙂
 
Whitedog, I play Diablo 2 in Win2K... have you tried playing it on another OS on your computer? I had trouble with it because my cd-rom drive wasn't supported... could that be your problem?

Yea, I played it fine on 9X..

I've got a new CD on order anyway, maybe then I'll be able to play it 3D again. 😉
