they want power and exhuast is the easiest way to gain up to 50 hp on any car...

blame japan for making the motors sound like that...

glad I grew up when Japanese cars were a joke for the street scene.. I miss the good old V8 sound..

MOST of the time thats true, but not when it comes to an STi or SRT-4...

still sounds like a windup toy...
want to hear a motor

come up next to a 5.0 stang with an X pipe and heads and cam and blower...
pure sex in a can...

Who wants a car to sound like a fvcking bee buzzing around. I hear them all night. The sound they make is so ridiculous. When you guys grow up, you'll look back and realise just how geh it was.

Couldnt agree with you more. I had a kid who pulled up next to me. I have a car that has a supercharger (stock). He rev his engine so much that by the time he got going I was down the block.

The funny thing is that these idiot ricers with huge exhaust are actually loosing performance by putting such a large exhaust on an NA car.

BTW I have a 4 Cylinder Subaru Impreza. This H4 boxer engine can sound pretty mean 🙂

True ricers have 'em welded on after the midpipe so the small stock exhaust is pretty much intact.

And yeah, flat 4's definitely have a sound of their own

Man, you're old school😉 I love the GC8 coupes.

I've got an '05 Leg GT

FAT PIPES improve HP and fuel economy. That assuming of course, all of your exaust is upgraded, not jsut hte tail section, whcih I see alot and laugh at VERY hard.

It makes sense to do these mods to a new truck. A Hemi can get 25 mpg highway if some mods are done costing less than $1000

Around here it's usually some Mexican, or Salvadorian, or Ecuadorian, and they can't drive worth a sh!t, they don't have insurance, and the only reason they have a license is because someone read the driver's test to them IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE and gave them the answers.

Hey, I resemble that remark(Mexican)! 🙁 Only my Accord is a 2-dr, all my lights work, it's all one color, I despise wal-mart wheel covers, and English is my native language. On the subject of my exhaust, though.... I don't think it qualifies as a "fart can". At idle it's pretty deep and smooth, but as it revs up, it kinda starts sounding like a grinding noise, and at 3000 RPM (highway cruising in 5th) it's a downright annoying drone. Supposedly, it was a $500 exhaust system, but considering I only bought the car for $300, I doubt that the guy lost that much money on it.

Sounds a little "farty" to me.

Topic Summary:

LOL when I was 17 I had a Hush Thrush muffler,
it was Loud,LOL.
Especially at 2 am.

Nowadays I use Turbo mufflers, they are mellower, but still sound good when I
hit the Loud pedal hard.

🙂

I had a Loud stereo when I was 18,and used to Crank it,with All the windows down,
til 2 blocks from home.

My Dad was outside one night, and heard me coming home at 2 am.🙁

WOW did I get talked to about being a Lot more courteous to the neighbors.

Now it's my turn to have 17-21 year olds with loud exhaust/stereo's wake Me up.😱

No, not always. The lack of backpressure on a naturally aspirated car can hurt low end torque and fuel economy. If your exhaust isn't sized right, you lose performance and fuel economy. That's why automakers don't always use the fattest pipes they can.

True, but a blower doesn't seem to change the exhaust tone, but heads/x-pipe sure as hell do.

I wish I had a way to get a sound clip of mine...🙁
