I need to design some type of portable work table

We don't have a huge place so space is limited. I was hoping to build a portable worktable for me to do my soldering on.

Wood top, pegboard back, but collapsible (either hinged so I can fold it up somehow), or just easily detachable. If its collapsible, wheels/casters would be nice so I can just roll it into the closet (the closet it will be in is about 10 feet deep, 2 feet wide). The pegboard back will just be used when the table is out, its not going to be used for permanent storage of tools.

Any ideas?

The workmates look nice, but I was hoping for something a bit wider, maybe 4-5 feet wide.

I'm sure you, and others will figure it out, meanwhile, I'm trying to wrap my mind around a closet that is 10' deep, but only 2' wide.

Its not only 2' wide, but with the shelves on either side and a long dresser under the shelves on one side, only 2' is usable.

we have mobile plan tables for jobsites at work that use door hinges to fold up the side leg panels for trasport. Put a crossbrace between the legs with wing nuts for stability once assembled.

When you say it has to have a pegboard back, do you want it set up so that you can hang your tools and such on there permanently?

OK, now *that* makes sense. You might want to start with those metal folding legs you can get at Lowes, or Home Despot.
