I need to convert a .mov file to DVD can anybody help?

I've been over to VCDHelp and still can't figure it out (I need to use Freeware, they suggest a prog that costs $80). I'm pretty sure I need to convert the .mov to a .mpg and then burn that on a DVD disk. Is that right? If so, what freeware can I use to do so the easiest? I have also read it might just be easier to convert it to an .avi and then to .mpg. Any thoughts??? Damn, I hate being new.

How big is this file ?? Why do you need to burn it to a DVD ??

As far as i understand - DVD is Mpeg2 format - I believe you would somehow need to convert it to MPEG2 to burn properly onto a DVD.
Burning it as a VCD or DivX would probably work better.

I'm not 100% sure which app would let you convert from .mov to .avi or .mpg.. but have u looked into Nandub or VirtualDub ?
