I just installed Whistler on my old computer and I need the Generic VGA driver for W2k. The video card in there is so old that it has no W2k driver. :p

Thanks!

I just looked through the driver list and I did not find any generic driver. Everything there was for a branded card.

What type of card do you have?

Diamond Stealth 2500

:p

There is no Generic or Standard VGA driver? Weird...there always is for Win9x. I don't really have much experience with NT kernels (I use em...but I haven't set one up on a machine until now).

I see a slew of Stealth drivers in Win2k Pro's driver list. You're telling me that you can't find a "looks-alike-just-as-good" substitute in that list?

Whistler doesn't have all of those drivers. :( Aherm...especially considering the...uhhh..."version" that I got...it's a CABbie if ya know what I mean. ;)

If all you want is generic VGA @ 640 x 480, you should not need any driver at all. That is the only way new card and system can wake up and find each other before any drivers are installed.

Of course, it is M$ Windoze, so anything can go wrong.

Good luck.

Oh. You said generic VGA. 800 x 600 isn't.

Why not post this in one of the tech forums? Everyone here is pissing politics with about a CGA mentality. :)
