I need suggestions for a new game

I've had hl2 for a year today, and I don't think I've had another FPS that is as good. I'd like a new one. Do you guys have any suggestions? I tried the FEAR demo, and I didn't really care for it all that much. Blood and gore doesn't bother me, but I thought it was a First Person Shooter, not a horror movie (the ghosts just take away from the whole shooting aspect). I've preordered BLACK for the PS2, and I think that's going to be awesome, but I just got a new 7800GT and I don't want to only use it for HL2. Can anyone reccomend some good PC FPS games?

I've been hearing that's a good game, but it's sotra outdated. I don't know. I'll think about that one. Anyone else?
 
Quake 4.

dont even touch FEAR. it starts off fun, but it will disapoint you so much. man, i am really pissed off about that game.

Far Cry is good. No game is going to approach HL2 as far as extreme fun with good graphics. It may not test your system too much, but I bet you won't be too sad running it at max FSAA in a high resolution.

Quake 4 is decent. Fear is good graphically and in terms of game engine, but I paid $30 and feel like it was about $15 too much.

Far Cry is more hardware demanding than HL2, even at high resolutions and with AA/AF. Many people consider FC's graphics to be better than HL2's.

OP, Far Cry is NOT outdated, at least yet. It was ahead of it's time if anything, and when it came out, no system at stock speeds could handle everything at max.
 
Far Cry is an awsome game. I never finished it cause I get bored easy but it far from outdated I would definitly pick it up if your a FPS fan esspecially since you can get it for so cheap now adays.

No ghosts eh?....

Suggestions:

Far Cry - great graphics and game play. Stealth meter is sweet. Tip: Learn to throw stones (it makes sense once you play). Heck, it is bargain bin now, go for it.

Brothers in Arms - ok graphics (Unreal engine), challenging gameplay and tactics. Tactics are critical as ammo is scarce and you do take damage (no health kits).

COD (1/2) - very scripted but still fun.

Doom3/Quake 4 - can be fun, but not for everyone. Try a demo before you buy.

HL2 expansions are coming soon (i.e. aftermath or whatever it is called now). Assuming they can maintain the story and atmosphere, they should be awesome.
 
Allright, I think It's down to either Quake 4 or Far Cry. I'm leaning more towards Quake 4 personally, but I'll download a Quake 4 demo first and see if I like it.
 
I still cant believe how many people think FEAR is boring and Quake 4 rocks.
Then again, I still cant believe Doom 3 got a 97%.

Anyway, Far Cry is pretty darn fun. If you havent played it yet you are deprived, as well as depraved.
 
Wow I just played through the quake 4 demo for the fourth time and it rocks!!! No ghosts, or creepy stuff, just a good solid *not to mention bloody* fast-paced shooter. I think I've found my next game 🙂

superb FPS . . . not dated at all

and FEAR is an awesome game . . . with extraodinary team-squad AI and superb effects

also PainKiller and BOoH . . . superb games with real depth - using weapons combos, unlockable levels and the same physics engine as HL2.

FC, of course.
