I'm going to upgrade. I need a board that will not have any problems when I boot up. Now I'm using a board that has a restart problem. What is out there that has no issues with the bios, or needs certain memory? I have looking at the Intel 975X chipset because I heard it is stable. I want a reliable mobo without problems. Any thoughts? Thanks.

never used it but whenever people ask this same question on many different forums, most people answer with Bad Axe

I always read BadAxe2 was very stable and could even o/c with it. So I got one and its been fine for me. They're around $200 at tigerdirect and mwave....got mine from tigerdirect

Any board running stock should be stable no matter what brand...

I say get the cheapest 975x possible... which would be the DFI 975x Infinity or Abit AW9D-Max.

Both are excellent boards and if you decide to o/c then that option will be available to you

Call NewEgg and ask them which brand motherboard has been RMAed the least :) I really wonder if we could get such information.

Very interested in this topic too. With all the Jmicron, 965 and memory voltage issues I am pulling my hair out. All I need is to be able to plug in mid-level components (value ram, E6300 and the like) and have everything boot up and load windows. A little overclock ability would be nice but nothing beyond a slight bump.

I am looking into the ABIT IB9 as it does not have the Jmicron driver and is stripped down and cheap. However, it does seem to have the 965 auto reboot issue (memory voltage?). Also new board = immature BIOS usually so I don't know..... Also, I understand that BioStar boards do not have the Jmicron drivers either. Can anyone weigh in on these boards? Are 975 boards better solutions? Or 680i? Or should I just get a Mac? (ok, not seriously).

I would say BaxAxe 2 or DFI Infinity 975X also at this moment for Intel based boards if you also want mild overclocks. After working with several mATX AM2 boards over the past few weeks I will admit I miss the stability (more like set and forget) of the A64 platforms. Of course they have had time to mature as have the 975X boards.

The P965 is turning out to be a great chipset with one major flaw, the lack of native IDE. In a couple of years this will no longer be an issue but for now it is a drawback in my opinion. I really like the Biostar 965PT but it does not care for the 4:5 memory ratio when overclocking, the latest BIOS has solved most of the issues but it is still a little quirky. The NV650i boards are doing alright now with the new BIOS releases. I have a new BIOS for the IB9 coming so our preview will be up next week, not a bad board at all.

Thanks for the response, I love this site. On the Abit IB9, not to try to jump the review, but can you give us a little hint re the BIOS? Were there problems with the shipped BIOS? I ask because I already have one winging its way to me and I may build over the weekend.
