I don't know which one you are referring to but I'm using OpenOffice and it does everything OfficeXP can and it's free.

can i view .ppt files with it? (powerpoint)
some of the lecture notes online are .ppt files.
what about opening .doc files?
and can i save a report or something i typed as a .doc document?
