I need something cleared up...Did the towers COMPLETELY collapse?

I thought that the top floors fell in on theselves and like half of the buidings were still standing. But Im also hearing "There's nothing left where these two towers stood". Can someone clear up exactly how much of the towers were destroyed?

its basically just the base iron standing, covered in concrete and debri about 50+ft high, the buildings are no more

Both towers are gone. One tower is 2 stories, and the other is around 7. Compare that to the original 110.

yup about 20 floors fell after the supports could no longer stand the heat from the insane amount of jet fuel.. after that each floor(concrete) fell on the next like dominos.

from what i saw on TV, the tower for the most part is gone but the spine(can't think of another word) is still standing. which i hear is preventing a ful pledged search b/c the spine could come down at any minute.

now sure what the status is right now though, they may have had the iron workers take it down

I was at the Statute of Liberty like 7 weeks ago and remember the skyline. I never understood why some buildings meant so much to people but as soon as I looked up at the Statute that day, I understood.

Imagine a pile of rubble larger than most buildings in a medium sized city. they are gone.

What do u guys think the memorial will look like. I think whatever is left standing (stabily) should be swept clean and left., Just like the USS Arizona at pearle Harbor. Whatcha think?

I think they'll demolish and haul away whatever's left and build a memorial park like OKC.

It depends if you consider 5-6 stories of rubble as part of the building standing.

I hope they rebuild the towers bigger and better than before and place a memorial at the top and in the lobby

Might be a problem getting financing for that, and if someone did build it there might be a bigger problem renting space in it.

the floors pancaked one of top of another....pretty much all the way to the bottom. reports say there are like ten story piles of rubble. if there is anything still standing, it will be bulldozed.

I had heard that there is approx. 4 stories left of them, though it is just pieces of support structure. Also, their foundation extends 70 feet below ground level.

No floors remained intact after the collapse. It's basically a lot of rubble what is left.
