I am so lost in college now... I have no aim or objective, I just study and pass classes...
my major is EE, but I am having doubt in my ability to graduate with degree; beside, my school isn't big time university like UCLA or Ivy League's and I am not the top of my class, I am worrying would I even be hired if I indeed graduated.

I don't know what to do now, I am stumped on the very first Engin class - Circuits... Super Node eludes me big time... I guess I will switch majors. If I have trouble in the introductory courses, I doubt I can be even pass the advance technical course.

switch to Mechanical Engineer?
how bout Computer Science? I think this field is getting too competitive, but it is a possible alternative...
Industrial Technology? I don't know about this, to me it seems like Engineering without the Math and Science... but I took all Calculus and Physic already, if I went with Indust. Tech. I feel like I have wasted my time for nothing. Courses are, however, interesting and manageable though...

pls help.... :(

Take out a general catalogue with all the majors and all the classes required for the major. Read through them to see if any of those majors sound interesting. If you're having trouble in your first introductory class, I'm not sure how well you'll do in your future classes. Personally, if you have the will and the desire, you can get that degree (even though you didn't graduate at the top of your class). Yes, getting a job is tough because of the economy but your chances are better compared to someone majoring in basket-weaving. :)

Hang in there bud, college is hard at first but study more and it gets easier, even though i'm sure you think you study too much now. Trust me it is no better on the outside of college and a degree is important nowadays, even though you can get by without it. But who wants to have to work your way up when a college degree will take you straight there. Change majors if you must but I suggest you stay in school, and you will thank yourself later. If you got in to college you are smart enough to pass your classes. Trust me.

Were you assigned an advisor or does your school provide them? If so, I'd definately head over to one and have a chat. They can give you a lot of input.

Good luck. :)

Been there, done that :( I started as a physics major after kicking everyone's ass in first year physics. Once second year came around I loathed and detested all my physics classes. I promptly did very poorly and switched majors to psychology. I'm glad I did. My grades weren't great at the end but the thing that counts is I got the degree. Just slog it out, and if you really truly loathe EE switch to another major. I was one of the few psychology majors who actually got a BSc, because I had so many science/math crap done from my first year when I had high hopes of going into science - although psych is a science most psych grads have a BA.

Do some research before you switch to another major, like going to the classes, talk to professors, find out the kind of jobs available to you when you graduate. More importantly, you should also think about what interests you. Don't just switch to a major because it's easier.

cheers. :)

Study harder! Nobody likes EE. Even the professors hate it.

Why don't you go to the professor or TA for help on supernodes?

I'm a junior in EE and I don't particularly like it. But, I'm so far in that I can't change my major to anything else. Plus, I know I'll hate whatever I change to :)

Get some career/vocational counseling. Sometimes it is hard to find out what we really love to do. Once you find out what you like to do, the vocational opportunities should narrow your search some.

But don't expect what you do to give you complete satisfaction. In the end, we are human beings, not human doings.

Don't make decisions based solely on "wasting" a couple years of college. Do you want to lock yourself in to something that will last many years to avoid "wasting" a couple of years? I don't think these "wasted" years are wasted at all if they ultimately help you find what you want to do. Consider them "the cost of doing business."

Plus, such decisions aren't as irrevocable as they used to be. Nowadays, most people not only change jobs within a somewhat broad field quite frequently, they often go through two or three major career shifts into significantly different fields before they find their niche.

i hear this story from alot of people.

my bs ----------- > geology, minor math
first job ----------> pharmaceutics (R&D)
ms degree ------> computer science (half way now) :)
second job ------> computer validations

you will never know where yer gonna end up. what a bs degree says to an employer is that you are competent and can read *sarcasm*. don't worry about your major so much.

experience and continued education (ms or mba) will get you there.
