Just got off the phone with dell CS and they pin pointed why my computer was having a huge delay on bootup.

Here is the story. I bought a dell E510 820 P-D, 1 GB , 80GB HD. I bought it 3 months ago. Had my printer for 10 months, Canan MP130. Well About 1.5 months ago my dell had a huge delay when booting up. A normal cycle would be Dell splash ~> windows with the green bar moving L to R ~> blue windows welcome and boot up all withing 30 secs tops. My cycle would be dell splash ~> black screen with "_ " blinking about 30 times ~> maybe windows with the green bar moving ~> blue welcome and bootup, all within 3-10 mins.

i've reformated and tried again and same issues, I contacted dell and they told me to disconnect my pritner and camera and reboot. And it was the cure. Pinpointed it was my printer at fault. But i want to know how and why. I dont have any driver's installed. The dell CS wasn't the best at choices of words or i'm not the best at understand 3rd world accents when speaking english.

How and why did this happen, How can i fix this, well other then leaving it disconnected.

The funny thing here is that the problem did not exist initially, but appeared later.

Do you have a memory card in a slot in the printer? The rig may see this as a possible boot device.

thats what i was saying. i had it on my laptop before that and i transfered the printer with the same driver.

no media cards in the printer. Just cant make logically sense.

I've never had a printer that didn't require a driver. Perhaps your's is using one native to the OS. Whatever is being used, it sounds as though there is a problem with the driver, which appears during the boot. If the driver is native, perhaps it would help to run SFC /SCANNOW, and if that doesn't help, run CHKDSK /R from the Recovery Console.

I don't get it. I think you probably do have a driver - you should look for the latest version of it and reinstall the printer. Maybe use driver cleaner or similar to completely remove all traces of the old software first.

i reformated and the problem was still there, but since i reforamted there is no driver isntalled. thats what i was refering too.

I am working on the same system with the same printer. Dell Dimension E510 and a Canon MP130. I am still looking for a solution, did you find one other than disconnecting??? Thanks.
