I am planning on a complete upgrade of my pc. I'm thinking of an Phenom II X4 BE 955 or 965 with a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H. I thought I might try some light overclocking. Initially I'll be using on board video to do some light gaming, surfing, etc. Later when I get some free time, I'll get into more strenuous gaming. At that time, I can buy a discrete video card.

I've looked at Newegg's offerings of gskill, ocz, and patriot. I just don't know which one would be best. Can someone point me in the right direction for ram - 2 x 2gb?

get ddr3 1600 set, brands don't matter that much (corsair, kingston, gskill, adata, patriot etc) but try avoiding ocz (hit or miss basically, guess they dont have good quality control). the one im using right now is kingston hyperx cl9 ram, works really good.

+1 for G.Skill pretty much the cheapest good quality ram these days. Just make sure you get DDR3 1600
