It's hard to figure out what I want to do in life when I seem to have no passion for anything. I've been thinking a lot about launching a website/blog thing I could make money off of, but I don't know what I'd want to do. Could just make a dumb blog like most people but that wouldn't interest anyone (including me). I've been wondering what I'm going to do with my life for the past few years, and I can't figure out anything. If there was something I was passionate about, I could pursue it and try to make money with that. I'm sure I'm passionate about some things, but nothing that can make me any decent cash. So... I guess this is pretty much all about money =/ - Just thinking aloud here...I've been awake much too long. Anyone else feel like they have no passion to do anything in life? Is there something I can do to truly become passionate about something?

Lots of people are passionate about something that leads them to finical success. Some people like writing, some people like cooking, etc. I don't seem to have that, or not that I know of anyways. Only thing I'm really passionate about is making money, but I don't have the passion to get the money :p - I really want to start making 2k a month. Eh...this thread probably doesn't make much sense I know. Just ignore it if you have nothing good to say, that'll save everyone some time.

A person without passion has no reason to get up in the morning. A person without passion has no reason for existence. Find something you care about or prepare for a lifetime of watching Ricky Lake and Jerry Springer in the morning, Judge Judy and Judge Alex in the afternoon, and ronery ronery nights.

Some passions and interests aren't profitable.
Why do you think most of the population hate their jobs...lol.
Work with what you are good at. I don't particularly love art, but thats the field I am going to go into. Graphic Art. I'm decent at it and it will pay the bills. I would rather spend my days in 100 degree weather digging up dinosaur bones but it's not going to happen.

That's not true.

Please convince me as to why a person without any sort of passion for anything has any reason for living.

Happiness can be obtained without a passion. Happiness is the reason. To discover. You don't require a passion to discover. Just the journey. It's the little things in life that make up the big picture.

Without a passion, happiness is hard to come by, and when it does come by it's short lived.

A guarantee a poor janitor who is passionate about cleaning the bathrooms and takes pride in his work and providing for his family has more happiness than the passionless Joe Douchebag whose only happiness every day lasts 15 seconds while he masturbates and spends the rest of the day getting a few seconds of happiness here and there following out the schedule I outlined above watching the midget strippers on springer and trailer trash court cases on judge judy.

<edit>I know it's an extreme case. I'm just saying I don't believe a person can truly live a satisfying, happy and fulfilling life unless they have a passion for something. That's it.

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for, a "profitable passion". I know you don't have to be passionate about your job, but it would certainly make life much more enjoyable. I could go work at Circuit City or something, and it probably wouldn't make it horribly depressed or anything. But, it would be somewhat depressing. No one's put on this earth to work at Circuit City, that's my standpoint. I'm not 'miserable' or depressed now, by the way. Just bummed out that I can't figure out what I want to do career wise when my options are so limited as it is without the fact that I'm not passionate about very few things, which are unrelated to work of any kind.

Did you have a thread a while back asking which profession to select if you wanted to be rich without doing actual work? It might've just been someone with the same avatar, but the name sounds familiar.

Read lots and lots of book on very diverse subjects. Eventually you will stumble onto something you become passionate about. That's what happened to me anyway. I was in a similar position to you before I discovered astronomy/astrophysics.

i am passionate about the internet, computers and every way to socialize online and combining this as a way of income.

I combined that and TRY to make money online in various ways, that is websites, selling stuff.....blogs...ebooks...etc..etc...

Once you see SOME money coming in it gives you an extra boost.

edit: you can make a website/blog regarding your passion...making money, weightlifting, girls :) whatever....whats the problem ? PAssion is good since people usually do best in things where theyre passionate about.

I still can't decide what I would like to do. Something online sounds right, blog or a website of some sort, but then it comes back to trying to find something I'm passionate about doing. Plus, everything's been done 1000 times over on the net, there's nothing I can do to stand out it seems like. It would just be another webiste in the sea of billions of other websites. Any kind of blog I made would probably be boring. I hate blogs anyways, so why would I make one? :p - So, I still can't think of anything I'd like to do. Something I'll have to figure out on my own though I guess, but i've been trying to do that for a looooong time now. I need some fresh ideas, but only I know what I like and dislike.

So what are your likes and dislikes? (Besides making money, of course.) Maybe we can make some suggestions

Thanks for offering. I really don't have anything to go on though, I just can't think of anything I like enough to go into a career for. I'm sure I'll think of something sooner or later, but I really need some money =/ - I spend a lot of time on the computer doing nothing now though (obviously) so I'd like to make much more of my online time productive. That's why I think something online is what would best suit me. I'm going to launch a site this week, whether or not it's something I'm passionate about, we'll see. Like I said though, it seems like it's all been done already. I don't have anything to offer. I don't see how I could start making 2k a month online. I've read a lot about making money online, just about things like SEO and Google Adsense. So, I have the know how, just don't know what kind of site I could make that brings in that many people.

I'm passionate about sea kayaking and being a 6'6" Koing crusher. :) My CEO status barely pays the bills.

Women aren't a legitimate passion. Don't drink and don't do drugs, you can't read Kant.

Literature is ripe with amazing poets that were never laid, hence 'pussy on the pedestal'.

Babel and Sholokov are my favorites.
