Hi everyone, I searched the forums a bit but did not see this problem.

Here is the deal, I recently upgraded my PC, and I have everything plugged in and turn it on, no beeps of any kind, all fans work, etc. No indication that something is wrong, but I get a blank screen like there is no signal on the monitor. The monitor scans for it but finds nothing.

This is incredibly frustrating because I can't access the BIOS or ANYTHING. I've tried a lot of stuff but nothing has fixed it at all.

My setup is as follows:

EVGA X-58 4 way SLI motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813188059

Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Bloomfield 3.33GHz

OCZ Gold 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227422

EVGA GTX 285 (JUST ONE, no SLI or anything)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-480-_-Product

Thermaltake V-1 CPU heatsink fan
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835106102

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102019

TWO 10,000 RPM Raptor Hard drives, both in SATA.

DVD burner also in SATA.

OCZ 1000 watt power supply.

and the case is a

Thermaltake ArmorPlus(Armor+) VH6000

I would appreciate any suggestions to help fix this, because I have no clue what to do at this point.

Thank you for taking the time to reply in advance.

Thanks,
Aaron

Have you tried a different monitor cable, the other DVI connector on the vidoe card, or checking all connections to make sure they are secure?

Looks like the motherboard has a speaker built in so you should be getting some kind of beep code either way. So if there are no beep codes then there may be a problem with the motherboard.

You're trying to do too much at once. Try a minimal install with the MB outside the case with one stick of ram, the GPU and no HDD. I'm assuming you've already checked all connections and have the additional power supply to the GPU plugged in. Make sure you use the correct slot for one stick of ram while testing.

Some boards have issues when fully populated. If you get it to post, you may need to flash the BIOS to the latest version to fix that particular problem.

I plugged my laptop into the same cable side by side and it turned right on so I know the cable and monitor both work.

Oh man I hope there isn't anything wrong with the motherboard. It's weird because all the lights on the motherboard work and show like it's okay, I just can't get a signal on the screen to even see it boot up.

I've check to make everything is secure and it all is. Any other possible suggestions and is there anyway to test the motherboard to find out if it's the problem?

Thanks.

I'll give this a try right now and report back what happens.

Thank you.

Okay just tried it with having only the Video card, and 1 stick of ram in the right place and still same problem, no beeps, no signal on the monitor.

Did you try it with each of the other sticks of ram? Did you take the MB out of the case? The point is to "eliminate and consolidate" in other words, to take a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

No I did not physically take it out, but I will next.

One thing I wanted to mention is that the little digital number light up thing on the motherboard that cycles through numbers/etc DOES NOT light up. I didn't even know it was supposed to till 2 minutes ago when I saw a video on the EVGA website. Mine is not lighting up at all.

I just read by someone who said that this board ONLY supports SLI.

So does that mean I simply cannot use just one video card on this thing?

No you can easily run a single card. No motherboard forces you to run 2 cards. But being an SLI board it only supports SLI. You can't run a pair of ATI card in CF. You can run them as 2 sepeate cards allowing you to have up to 4 monitors you just couldn't run them together to support a single monitor.

If it's not your monitor/cable, then it's your vidcard. Try with another card if you have one.

Make sure you connect the power cables to the GTX285 and the fan to your hsf is attached to the mobo.

Well it's official, I am a total moron.

I didn't have the 8 pin power connector in. I swear I looked over everything 100 times and didn't see anything unplugged but sure enough it was there. As soon as I plugged that in it booted right up.

Thank you everyone for taking time to try and help me with this problem, I really appreciate it.

Cheers.
