I installed Windows ME today, and once I did, Internet Explorer has gone bonkers on me. I try to start it, it will not load at all, and then says iexplore had caused an error in kernel32.dll, and says if I keep having problems to restart my computer. Well I have restarted it twenty times, and I am starting to get the feeling it is not going to work.... ;)

If you have any advice, I would appreciate it greatly. I searched Microsofts website, and that had nothing to offer me.

I had that problem the first time I installed Windows ME. I also got some weird problem where it would say I didn't have enough memory to run the program. However, it would work fine in Safe Mode. If you can, try starting it in safe mode with network support and see if it will work. If it does, download 5.5. I don't remember whether I reinstalled it or if downloading the updated version worked. Good luck! :)

I'm afraid to say your computer is toast. The only thing left to do is send it to me.

PM me for my address.

I tried that before I posted, forgot to mention that. It won't let me for some strange reason, cuts me off a quarter of the way through. I think I may be screwed until I get my new computer, but thanks for trying to help guys, I appreciate it. :)

Download Netscape 6 for the time being, but any number of things could be causing your problems, IE can be touchy at times. If you overclock, underclock, try installing winme over itself or using system restore, you didnt mention if you did a CLEAN install or upgraded, if you upgraded, that could be some of the problem.

I would say do a fresh install of ME, then everything should be dandy.

You could also download the MS utility tweakui, it has an option to restore IE files or system files to their original state.

Do you have WinME disk?

If so then put CD in a install again, you don't need to format or anything, you will only lose personally settings(you can back up of course, eg. favorite), that way it will overwrite the badfiles.

I say fresh reinstall. Backup your bookmark, documents, files, etc... WinME is pretty unstable if you install on top of Win98.

Don`t download Netscape 6,it`s slow & buggy, try using the repair option in system infomation under tools tab(I presume WinME has this since I use Win98).Last option is always clean reinstall of WinME.
