I got a lenovo T61 with Windows Vista Basic on it, the problem I'm having just recently happened after I used windows media player. when i touched the volume up or down or mute button these little bars would show up middle-bottom of my screen, and the same little green bars would show up for when i adjusted the brightness. now they don't. How do i bring them back?

PLEASE HELP!
 
thanks, just did that with a restart afterward but still not volume indicator or anything.
any other suggestions?
