I'm looking to buy a new monitor and have decided to go with either the Samsung 753DF, KDS Avitron, or Viewsonic's A75f (all are 17"). Can anyone give me some info on these three monitors? The color on the Samsung didn't look as vibrant as the others and the Viewsonic just looked bright (the black background looked grey), but that could've just been because someone fiddled with the contrast. The KDS looked nice but I've heard some bad things about them. Which one of these monitors would you guys recomend? I'm mainly concerned with how they will perform in gaming. Please don't tell me to get something else like a Sony an Iiyama or a 19" because if I could afford it I would have already gotten one of those.

I'd get either the KDS AV-7TF or the Samsung 753DF. I don't know if Samsung makes a 700NF, but if they do, you might want to try that out. It would be head to head with the KDS.

The KDS AV-7TF is a really good looking 17 inch for the money. It has a FD Trinitron tube in it and on price watch goes for $229 and some shipping. I purchased from Techonweb.com which is one of the lowest prices on pricewatch and they are a reputable shipper from Dallas,TX. Office Depot also stocks these monitors with a rebate that comes to about what the price on pricewatch is plus shipping. I also see some discounts and rebate on onvia.com.
Heard bad things? KDS hasn't been around a long time and only has a short history. I've heard everything from "cheap" "doesn't last that long"...etc.
ALL monitor brands have problems which leads to the question of support. I have three different models of KDS, 17inch, 19inch CRT and the AV-195TF Avitron. The CRT's are still running after 2 and 1/2 years. The AV-195TF is six months old. No Problems with none of the monitors. I did test KDS' support when I got the first AV-195TF which I thought was running too hot (later found out that the Trinitron tubes running warmer than CRT tubes). Without question..they had FEdEX pick the monitor up the next morning at 11:45am (their costs)and then I wondered how long I would have to go without a monitor. The NEXT morning at 9:25am the same FedEX man backed into my driveway with a new monitor. Time without a monitor.....about 21 hours.
Try that with Sony.

Mags are very good monitors. You should do some research on MAG monitors. MAGs are good and affortable.
