i need some help with divx format

i need to change divx to a format i can use/edit IE what is divx any and all input would be great

1) go to divx.com
2) download the divx codec
3) watch movie

Once you have the DiVX codec installed, you should be able to open the files in any editing application you want, and convert it to any other format you want (though you'll lose quality if you convert it to something less compressed like straight AVI or MPEG1/2, and make the file size bigger). You should be able to do your editing and keep it in the DiVX format.
