I only get the artifacts at 1280x1024 and 1600x1200...

It looks like a slight ghosting of the image shifted off to the right of the original image. Any ideas?

<EDIT: I installed some ramsinks and that seems to have solved the problem. This can help someone else with similar problems hopefully. Oh, and for the record I have my 8500 running at 308/304 stable with a 9100 bios...I'm getting almost 11000 3dmarks :)>

Try replacing or moving the monitor cord. Make sure you lower the refresh rate or try different ones at higher resolutions. Check your device manager and make sure you don't have too many display adapters or monitors in Safe Mode if you are using Win98/ME. Try a different monitor and make sure it is the video card causing the problem.

I had the same problem at 1600x1200 when I had my 128MB retail ATI RADEON 8500. I have a 21" monitor so I connected my monitor to my videocard using the BNC connectors instead of the SVGA connector and the problem was solved.:)

where did you get the bnc connectors from? my 22" viewsonic also supports those, but as far as i know i don't have the cables.

moving the cable sometimes helps a bit, but the problem never goes away entirely.

is there no way to repair the cable that i'm using now? could it maybe be caused by some of the pins being bent out of shape? and why is this problem only suddenly appearing? very strange...
