I need some help making my USB flash stick bootable

I had a USB stick that I made bootable but I let someone borrow it and now its lost and I cant remember how to do it. I searched all over google and everything I found either has dead links or I just cant figure it out. I need to make my new flash drive bootable to I can install XP on a netbook, can anyone help me out with this?
 
i used a HP utility and then put the basic dos boot files on it from a bootable floppy i formatted from windows vista. I'll see if i can find it.
