Hi everyone

Here is the deal, I am going to build a computer and was wondering if I could use the 3.5 drive the modem and the dvd rom off this compaq that I am using? Compaq did not give me any software for these devices just a system disk. Is it possible that windows xp would recongnize the devices without asking for software? so I would not have to buy new. granted these things are not that espensive but I would rather use them if I could.If your interested this is what I have bought so far 256x2 ddr ram amd 1700, shuttle ak31a board gf2 antec case with a 300 watt supply

Win XP has been real good for recognizing devices and having drivers for everything I've had. My mom had an old compaq and XP recognized all of her hardware that I carried over.
