I have two PCs right now, and I need to do a lot of DivX4 encoding. My main machine is in use to often for me to use it for encoding as it takes too long, though its much faster. My second machine is a 433 Celeron with 320 megs of PC100 RAM, residing in an Asus CUV4x mobo with the 1009 bios rev installed.
Using my second machine to encode the files is easier cause that machine is rarely used for any thing and i can leave it be for long periods of time. Even so, its 433 celeron will take a good 11 to 12 hours to encode a lower res DivX movie.
I cannot afford a Duron/Sis735 combo at this time. I can get a Celeron 800 from Newegg.com for $56.95 shipped, or a Cyrix 3 933 for around 70. The catch is that the Cyrix 3 uses the 133fsb, and my ram is PC100. I could OC, but the ram is el cheapo generic RAM, I doubt it could handle a 33mhz OC.
So basicly, I can get a Cyrix 3 700 for about 45 or a Celeron 800 for 56.95. Should I take the Celeron or the Cyrix 3? I don't want to spend more than about 70 bucks.
