I need some help with this pic.
It's for a website for The Araucana Club of America. It's basically a group of people who work to conserve a very rare breed of chicken.
Anyways...
I'm starting a new website for the club at http://araucana.homestead.com
It's going to be a major cleanup of the current site at http://araucana.freehosting.net/index.htm

So much for the setup.

What I need is a lineart drawing of the picture above. My hope is to do a bas relief (or something) that matches the header at the new website.
Something as simple as a black and white marker drawing would be perfect.
Even a photochop of that pic with the lines smoothed out and thickened would do it.

I've put hours into trying to do something that would take a talented person 5 minutes, and it's killing me.

Any help would be hugely appreciated and I'll be more than happy to give credit and a link to anyone willing to help.

Thanks!!!

If you're actually using Photoshop, you should be able to colorize the image (I think it's the yin-yang-like button on the bottom of the layers box) and change it to black and white. From there, you can blur/sharpen or adjust/auto-adjust the image to see if that would make the lines more dense. Either that your you could go back over them with the paintbrush and a small brush size to do it manually. You'll probably want to erase the shadow on the lower right side of the image as well.

From that, you have your base image to start from. Resize to taste. :)

It's image/mode/grayscale to change a pic to B&W.
I've been playing with that for awhile now, and it's still extremely labor intensive.
I'm going to dick with the contrast/etc. and see if I can get closer.
I'm sure someone with some ability can do much better than I can. :)
Thanks Nik!!!

Labor intensive? ...So? Are you going to be doing this for a whole buttload of images or just this one? If it's just this one, who cares if it's labor intensive. Just get it done :p

I don't have photoshop or elements on this PC, though. If I did, I would have replied with my attempt. Oh well. Good luck. :)

I got it this far...
Pic
You inspired me to actually learn how to use a few commands. :)
There's some way to thicken the lines, I have to do that next.
Gaussian blue and sharpen maybe?
WWND? ;)

don't bother with photoshop, at best it will look half decent.

pull it into illustrator and use autotrace, or use the streamline demo (free for 15 days I think)

should only take about 3 minutes, that's a very simple drawing

I fvcked up every link in this thread so far and had to fix them. My linking skills are suffering.

That's more like it. :)
We got that far. It's up a couple posts.

To give it more contrast i've also modified it just a teeny bit, if you don't mind.

I can upload the Illustrator file if you're interested. :)

I'm really liking the bottom right image. For some reason I can't open the image to view the full size image.
Yes, I'd very much appreciate the illustrator file.
I'm going to have to see if I have illustrator. I've never used it.

You can open up the Illustrator file in Photoshop, since it's an EPS you can specify how large (or small) you want the file to be when opening it in PS. Here's a link to download the AI file.

Awesome. I can't thank you enough.
I have a lot more work to do with the image, but here's what it's going to be (somewhat) like. http://araucana.homestead.com/index.html
The size and resolution are for crap, but it's going in the right direction.
I'll likely flip it and make it look the other way, too.
Thanks everyone!!!

Keep us updated of its progress.

I've got the size, spacing and style they way I like it.
Now to add the mechanical crap, pages, content, and all the other boring stuff.

I'm happy with the index page. I'm going to leave it stand.
Thanks again for your help, this has been a real thorn in my side. :)
