geforce 4, definitely
the voodoo 5 is old hardware, released clear back with the geforce/geforce 2
and 3dfx has gone out of business..meaning no new official drivers or support
the geforce 4 and v5 are not even in the same category performance wise
geforce 4200 is a good choice right now that should last quite awhile and performs well

thanks, and one more question..... is it really worth it to go up to the 4400, or should i get the 4200? more than likely is going to be based on how much money im willing to put in it right....well here is the system i have so far

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.53Ghz
either PC3200 or PC3000 512 MB DDR RAM
80GB Maxtor 7200rpm Hard disk
Geforce4 TI 4200

i'd say probably the 4200...it performs very well and has a good price/performance ratio
take the extra money the 4400 would cost and put it into system cooling
get a high quality hsf for the athlon and some good case fans, that geforce 4 will throw a lot of heat into your case
you'll have a nice fast stable system
don;t skimp on motherboard or powersupply either, i'd go with at least a name brand 350 watt..i.e antec/enermax
what motherboards are you considering?
i reccomend epox 8k3a/8k3a+
good ocing options, highly stable and tweakable
high quality pc2700 might be a better choice price/ performance wise than the 3000 or 3200
have fun building the system though..i always love that part :D

i got my 8k3a+ for around $100 from newegg
you can get a regular 8k3a for 70-80 if you don't need raid
