Thanks in advance everyone.

I was able to get in on the Dell 1600SC deal and now I am in need of a PCI video card. From the reviews I've read the PCI Radeon 7500LE performs close to the GF3 TI500, so that was the card I was considering to get. Anyone know of any PCI cards that are better than the ATI Radeon 7500LE.

where did u hear that a pci 7500le performs on par with ti500?!?!?!

well... i guess this depends on what benchies u might be running. but as far as gaming.... the ti500 should blow away the 7500le. but anyway... for a server... why would u really need a 7500le? just an old school pci radeon, or rage would suffice, no?

I'll look for the article regarding the 7500LE performing close to the TI500.

Even though this will be performing as my main domain server, I still host numerous lan parties and someone always needs an extra machine. Hence the need for a decent 3d vid card.

I've also found a Radeon 9000 PCI. Not sure what the difference between the 7500LE and the 9000 is though.

i dunno about pci... but u can see how the agp 7500 (non le) stacks up with the agp 9000 in some games.

The 9000 doesn't outperform the 7500 by much. But I'll prolly buy the 9000 because of the DX8.1 support. Any more ideas, input? it looks like the 9000 and the GF4MX440 are about on par with each other.

In most cases, the MX440 PCI DDR (not SE or Lite version) will be a bit faster than the Powercolor 9000 PCI. But if you don't mind waiting a month or so, Visiontek is about to release a PCI version of the Radeon 9100 (8500). At their website, they list both 64 and 128mb versions of the card. I put in a call today to their sales department, and was told that it will be available for sale in about a month.

By quite a bit. I think it's safe to assume that it would outperform the 440 PCI by roughly the same margin that the 8500LE AGP outperforms the MX440 AGP.

Mloot, you are the man when it comes to PCI!!!

How about finding a 9500 PCI ?

Can't wait to get rid of my Powercolor 9000 pci; thats really an underclocked, clock locked, 7500 mutation with a 64 bit memory bus.

cheers

I think you'll have a long wait to see a 9500 PCI, especially if it's taken this long to get an 8500LE, or 9100, in PCI form. And with PCI-X or Express (whatever it's called) eventually replacing AGP and PCI in the not-too-distant future, this 9100 PCI just might be the best card we will see for the PCI bus. Frankly, I'm surprised that they are releasing such a modern and fairly powerful card in PCI format. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. :)
