I need recommendations on what pc3200 ddr memory to choose and I don't plan to overclock the memory. I want Cosair XMS but they are too expensive. I just need one stick of 512MB PC3200 DDR to accomodate my AMD XP 1700+, A7N8X Deluxe, ATI Radeon 9500 Pro. Crucial memory seems too slow for gaming. Need a good memory that is fast and good for gaming without the need for OC. Thanks.

You have an nForce2 Ultra mobo... why not go 2 x 256 to take advantage of the dual channel capability your mobo give you? No OC ... no XMS, but you can get non XMS Corsair. Otherwise, what's wrong with Crucial? Too slow for gaming? I'm sure you can at least run it at 2.5-3-3 which should be good enough.

Kingston ValueRAM or the cheaper Mushkin ones should do. Alternatively, the cheaper, non XMS Corsair memory modules are also good.

Crucial is too slow? Just up the timings or unless you are willing to cough up the hefty $$$ for corsair xms-LL. Any other non-overclocking ram you find will have slow timings, you will have to overclock the timings if you want them any faster.

I just built a system on the A7N8X-DX using a stick of 512MB PC3200 Samsung Original. Works fine with SPD at CAS2.5

I highly doubt you would be able to notice much difference in gaming speed with ram that is a tiny bit faster. Why don't you get some decent ram and use the extra money to upgrade your CPU instead

Check out this article at gamingin3d.

I recommend Kingston ValueRAM or Buffalo. Crucial is always reliable and fairly priced but at least until recently they were using Samsung chips for PC3200 (is Micron making their own yet to supply Crucial?), which has not been as good for overclocking as Winbond used by others. I realise oc is not important to you but if you are paying the same price anyway then you may as well take it into consideration at least as a testiment to the quality of the part if nothing else. Buffalo is the cheapest that specifies Winbond whereas Kingston ValueRAM may be comprised of Winbond or others. So if you can verify the chips get Kingston, otherwise Buffalo.

Kingston Value Ram...should do the trick....and Crucial is not too slow for your gaming

and going to 2 * 256MB Dual channel over 1 512MB isn't even noticable to the eye in performance increase....maybe 2 FPS on paper in a game....no big deal at all...go by what you see

Kingston HyperX Low Latency. If you're not going to overclock, you might as well take advantage of tighter timings. Beware the value rams...nForce2 boards used to be picky about them...not sure if thats still an issue.
