I need new Tires

ATOT I am looking for a good online tire shop that will not cost me an arm and a leg to buy a set of 4 tires for my 06 Tacoma.

I almost always drive on roads, so I am going for a good All Season Road tire. Any suggestions for site and or tire?

Also, my truck sports 16" Rims, and I heard that you can save a significant amount of money if you switch to 15" Rims with the first tire change, and then each set of tires after that can save you $100s.

If you switch the rim size, wouldn't that mean you would have to change the tire size? It would take another change or two for you to break even I'd imagine.

I also have a 06 Tacoma. Went to costco with the $60 off coupon they put out about every 6 months and got four BF Goodrich A/T's. Great tires.

- Costco for convenience.
- Tirerack.com for choice.
- Mr. Tire, etc. out of necessity.

I recently got tires for my truck.
Locally, they were between $1050 and $1300 installed.
I went online to tires.com and ended up getting them for $895 installed. I had to drive about an hour away but I just worked it into a trip in that area that i needed to make any way.

Why online? Granted I drive a minivan, but I get my tires from WalMart, and I have free rotation/balancing and roadhazard protection nationwide. I happen to live close to one, which is not crowded and I can get it done rather quickly. I would never consider an online shop for those very reasons.

Well, I need to check install prices if I buy them from tirerack. I found a set that was $470 Shipped. My Uncle may be able to install them, but I sure the heck do not want to pay $400 to install them.

I am guessing though, you didn't get All weather road tires, you got some fancy tires right?

I actually never shopped online for tires - last car I had was in '96... but I always bought tires at the local Rural King.

A little advice: if you get someone to install them for you (or do it yourself) for crap's sake, at least take them somewhere to be professionally balanced!

My truck tires, 295-45-20, will more than likely be bought and installed by tires.com. I never used them before but I can't imagine the price being cheaper anywhere else.

I'm looking for tires right now and tirerack is basically the same price as the local dealers here charge but without the install. Doesn't look worth it to me

not really for the average type tires.


Costco and the like include free mounting, lifetime balancing, and stems.

I like TireRack for my Nissan as I have those tires (235/40's) professionally mounted by a real tire shop. For my wife's car, her ComforTred's would have been $100 cheaper through Costco.
