I NEED MONEY!!!

im 18 years old, attending college full time. I commute so I can work somewhere close by my house. I hate how its almost impossible to get a good job at this age, even if you have some skill in an area. Me fir example, I am a graphic designer, know photoshop VERY well, also know flash & dreamweaver well, but no one wants to hire me so I gave up. Ive worked 3 jobs so far, and non of them pay more than 8-9 dollars an hour. What are some good ways to make cash at this age?!>!

is you're doing graphic design, start freelancing. see about an internship at your college for g.d. might not pay now but it could help later

I would be interested in hearing some suggestions...

I know how you feel, still being in the process of higher education no one wants to higher me to do anything more then manual labor or be the low man on the totem poll.

I have tried to look even applying for jobs where I didn't meet the requirements, but I get the obvious answer of them looking for someone more qualified.

I worked on campus when I was in college. Sure, I didn't get paid much, but I didn't have federal taxes taken out and I could make my own schedule. If you can't freelance yourself out, see if you can get a job on campus somewhere like in the computer labs or something.

Idea for you...

Become Adobe Certified

Offer your tutoring services to noobs with digital cameras and photoshop elements.. 20-25 an hour.. or whatever.

See if you can find someone that's starting a business or has just started one and offer your graphics services to them. I know it's easier said than done, but maybe put out a classified ad or something?

Problem is you gave up. I had people tell me I was too young to become a service manager for a automotive shop, didnt stop me from trying. I called every dealership in the phone book and found a place that gave me a shot as the night manger. Dont let people tell you you can't or even yourself. Just keep trying, make calls, make follow up calls, make follow up calls to your follow up calls and keep calling till they call the cops on you for harassment. Sooner or later one will go "This fvcking kids got determination lets give him a shot, plus I am sick of him fvcking calling me."

Oh and fvck the newspaper classified adds. I cant tell you how many jobs I got pulling out the phone book making cold calls. Just call and be honest with them. "Sorry to bother you, Im calling actually from the phone book in hopes you may be hiring."

I have gotten several jobs from people who said "How did you know I was looking for help" or "I was just about to run a ad, can you come in today." It never hurts to try it and since it is the phone book its listed right there all the jobs you could want in your field in alphabetical order, start with the first one and work your way down the list making notes on the side.

I only make $10 an hour at my job and i'm 24. Pathetic right? Thats why i decided to go back to school. Get your degree and some skills and you will get paid. Complaining about it won't help.
