Is it just me or is HP an unreasonable company to deal with when it comes to updating device drivers? I have an HP 8250i burner which I bought during the pre- Win2k era(No win2k drivers were available at that time.) So, when I upgraded to 2000 I naturally had an install problem with my burner. I accessed HP's website and guess what? They want me to fork out another 10 bucks for the driver upgrade. I seem to recall not having to pay for driver updates via other hardware vendors. What gives? Can someone point me in the direction of those drivers for free?

THX!!!

HERE is a link for updated versions of the software that came with the 8250i. I also have that drive using winxp and no problems with the updated software.

Good luck

OK, I just tried to download them myself and everything is fine, just click the link and at the bottom of the next page it says "download now".

the "cd-writer" software upgrade shows "0.0kb". clicking thru the menus leads us to a "pay" screen.

so the question is; 1.Hewlett-Packard's RecordNow CD Mastering Software 2.
Hewlett-Packard RecordNow Software or 3.
Hewlett-Packard's DLA Software. option 4, cd-writer Windows 2000 software upgrade cd-rom requires me to order the software.

The "Record now" (1st link) and "DLA" (4th link) software should be all you need. They are the same software that come with your drive just updated.

No problem. Like I said before I have the same drive and the software worked for me. The win 2000 and Xp versions are the same. :)
