I am completely unsure of where I should be posting this so I apologize if this is the improper area of the forum.

Anyways... a little back story. I am out of town for work and they have roomed me as well as a co-worker in the same house. We get along for work but when off I keep to myself and plan to keep it that way despite him just being kind of creepy and wanting to always hang out and what not.

Onward with my story now! Last night I was watching netflix via my Wii U when all of a sudden my show stops and I get an error saying that my hdmi connection is no longer available. After a few brief moments of that message a very disturbing self taken picture of the individual showed up and remained on my screen for approximately 15 seconds and then my show suddenly resumed.

I was rather freaked out to say the least. And I want to at all cost avoid any kind of confrontation/uncomfortable situation. I guess my question really is how the f*ck could this have occurred?! We are both connected to the same wifi connection which my tv laptop and game consoles are using. As far as I am aware he has a laptop and cell phone connected to the wifi as well. I have nothing sharing or public on any of my devices. Would there be any way this could have accidentally occurred?

Any input on how this is even possible I would be very appreciative!
Thanks

If the HDMI connection failed, the TV may have switched to another input (?) that had the picture of the other person? You might try switching between inputs to see if you see anything and/or going to the HDMI (Wii U) input and then unplugging it and see if you can reproduce the issue. If you find anything, then you might be able to trace the problem based on what input/device it's using.

On another note, dealing with weird people like this, I find it's usually best to not confront them over anything like that unless it's something that is public/extremely bad. You might be able to mention it casually when your assignment/post with him ends. And then always use the buddy system so that there is a witness if things go completely south.

As Savatar said, have you got any other inputs connected to the TV? If the HDMI failed on the WiiU for any reason the TV would probably fail over to any other active input, including any kind of network source.

What context was the image in, was it just a full screen image or was there other indicators of where the source came from, was it open in an image viewer on a device, or set as a desktop background or in a browser, or what?
