I need help.....

Hi!
I need help finding a web site that will translate my English into Korean. I am trying to communicate via e mail with a friend's mother who lives in Seoul, South Korea. I thought it would be kinda cool to write to her in English that has been translated into Korean. She could do the same, e mail me in Korean and it could be translated into English. A free web site or e mail translation site would be most helpfull!

babelfish is what i use.... doesn't always translate perfectly... but usually enough for me to get the idea.

I hope you understand Korean somewhat or have someone to read it over for you, because direct translations are going to be butchered and probably won't make sense.

Ummmm, what do you mean by "butchered"?? And why wouldn't it make sense? I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean.
If that's the case.....then would the email I send translated to her do the same thing?? Do you know why that happens?
Her 11 year old son is studing english at my son's school, so I could always get him to read it.

yea, I've seen what they do from English to Spanish or vice versa, and it's not pretty. They don't translate phrases, they do word by word. The translators aren't smart enough to translate phrases or sentences at a time. I can't imagine that English to Korean would be any better.

Depends on how many homonyms you use..

There are a lot in English.

Don't know about Korean but there's probably a fair share.


I'd say that web translators aren't completely useless.
You do get the gist of the meaning, but often you have to go by context and
guess what something that looks weird means.


Altavista is a good one... For spanish to english, sometimes it can understand the phrase
and choose the correct homonym, sometimes it doesn't
