If any of yall know anything about calculus, see if you can help me out, PLEASE!!
Does anyone know how to do this:
Find x and y coordinates of all points on graph where the line tangent to the graph is parallel to the x axis

tangent line=(y-20)=-12(x-0)

original function=2x^3-3x^2-12x+20

if you can help at all please give me any feed back.
thanks

Nope, sorry. We're all in 5th grade here...We can tell you the 3 different answers to 2+2, though. Well, we can give you as many answers as you want.

well it's been like 2 years so i'm rusty, but i think you want to set the derivative of the original function to zero. then you find the solutions using tangent line eq. and that eq.

I think this should work... isolate the equation for the tangent line into point/slope form, then set that equal to zero, since the slope when parallel to the x-axis is 0- isolate the x value (s) , then plug that x value (s) into the original function.

Well, there are 3 correct answers.

2 + 2 = 4
2 + 2 = 22 (a two in front of another two is twenty-two)
2 + 2 = 42.. hell, everything equals 42.

Hey, 42 sounds like a great number, why not!

You're damn right...ain't nothing wrong with 42...

How did you get ahead of me, did you skip a grade??
