I need help with remote desktop.. god dang it.

My folks need technical help. It's a real beeyotch to help them navigate around the computer over the phone.

Is there a way to run a single EXE that will turn on remote desktop hassle-free between them and me?

I remember HP support doing something similar to me, it was pretty cool.

It may help that HP has dedicated DNS and/or IP entries that their EXE can call back to. Do you have a (relatively) static IP? One that's not behind a NAT?

This looks relevant. It looks like you'll need to set up a batch file to run one or more commands. It would help if you had another computer to test it on.

for ease of use on your parents end, point them at the Quick Support version. You will run the full version on your end(which doesn't require an install either).

Windows (used to?) have a built in "remote assistance" wizard, that should do the trick.

Appears to also exist in Windows 8, and has been present snice the days of Windows XP.
No installation required, and should "just work", unless firewalls are unreasonably restrictive.

Try remote assistance.. They can run it as a program and then give you control like remote desktop. Although I've had mixed results with it.

Install the client on their PC and keep the account credentials. Just log right into their PC and take care of it.
