hello guys.
i bought a liteon cdrw 52x32x52 at newegg.com and i just got this last week.

I tried to burn 697 meg file and a 682 meg file on a blank CD that can hold up to 700 meg.

however the result was bad. i tried about 4 times total with those files and it all got an "write error". I had the burn speed correctly too.

When i tried to burn a 500 meg file, it worked just fine. but whenever i try to burn something close to 700meg, it keeps on giving me that damn "write error"

so... if anyone know whats wrong could you please help me out... if its the CDRW drive that is wrong, i want to return it and get a different model...

thanks.

Check your media. Make sure it's a 700 MB CD. If you are using Nero, use the disc info tool to check the media out. I'm guessing media before I blame the drive, but obviously I can't be certain from here...

i got a liteon dvd +- burner recently and was having nero make coasters but the burning program that came with the drive worked fine. What i wound up doing is updating nero and updating the drives actual firmware. You might want to have a look into those.
firmware updates here: http://www.liteonamericas.com/us/download1.htm

Also i wonder if you somehow have buffer underun turned off in nero if you are geting write errors?

Make sure buffer run is active ... and upgrade Nero. The one that comes with lite-on is usually several revisions behind ... the updates generally allowed Nero to work better with different media. See if that helps.

it is NERO not the burner i installed 5.5.10.50 i think it was on 3 ocmputers and all the burner stopped being able to burn...so i did some research and foudn oput its a buf in Nero so just get 5.5.10.54 or you can search aroudn and find a fix for that version

again either use a diferern program to burn or get newer version of Nero5..update shoudl be free

This may be a problem of the different ways that file sizes are calculated and displayed.
ex. my 700 MB cd in drive D: (under windows explorer properties) says it is 713,078,784 bytes, but it also shows as only 680 MB. So, what I am saying is that your files are probably larger than will fit on a 700 MB disk, due to the different ways of calculating size.
