I need help...Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Why, What to do?, I have not touched any devices or even opened the case ....HELP!! Cannot reinstall devices

I would first off suggest using a restore point from yesterday or the day before.

Try and google this.

hey, that happens to me when my sound card comes loose. well, if you tried the restore point and your sure the device is physically installed properly, then remove the current drivers and all related software that came with it, restart the pc and reinstall. if that doesnt work, try a different pci slot. or does your rig have on board auido and your using a pci soundcard? post up the info of your system and let us know if your computer literate or not. another thing, how old is your rig and do you think the device burnt out on you?

This has only been running for about four months. Is more info needed? Oh, I do have some knowledge, new but learning fast. newbe to building computers.
Device Man. shows Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator has an exclamation mark on the moitor icon.

I just uninstalled the roms and rebooted. the comp. found them a tried to reinstall and find drivers. but no luck again.

if the erroris associated with your optical drives then you'll need to try this:

Open regedit and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Now delete the keys:
LowerFilters and UpperFilters in the right pane.
NB only one key may be present but still delete it.

Now reboot and your optical drives should function again.

NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software.

I searched google for this problem and ended up here. Removed the two registry entries as you said and guess what? It worked!

Bacillus: I spent the last five minutes to register with this site--just to say thank you. I deleted the entries in the registry, and that did the job. You are awesome!
