Best advice I have heard all day.

Yeah seriously. Ask for a temporary vacation.

I've asked for a temporary vacation before, only to have the mods say:
That they are not responsible for my lack of discipline.

listen to some quiet music (classical, atmospheric trance, etc.), close yourself in a room, remove all visible distractions.

I'm working on a 25 papge paper i need to do TONIGHT (10 pages in and stumped). I am sitting next to a 12 x 15 foot bay of windows overlooking the river. Good god I am screwed. I hate the topic I chose and can't find anything on it.

wgats it on?

nonpoint source water pollution in my state

Basically, it is a category of water pollution. I have two problems. First, my state does not release reports on it, so I must gather each little bit of info from news reports and such and then track things down. Working all day Sat and Sun got me 10 pages. The other problem is that it is both broad and specific. It was going to be a research paper and a summary of what has happened and what is being done. I am thinking of changing it into one single aspect of it. That would solve the depth problem, but I still do not have too much info on any aspect of it. Argh.

There's an easy way to get a vacation.

I've written 10-15 page papers the morning before they were due (and usually got decent grades). I've always found that starting was the hard part, and I tend to get into it after breaking through that initial barrier. Course an 80 page paper isn't going to be finished in an evening, so you have to go through that "I really don't want to get started" phase every day until you finish. Just sit down and get to work RIGHT NOW. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS POST. GO TO WORK NOW.

It's too late to change. On the surface it did appear that there was a lot of information on the topic. Once I actually started writing, I realized that was not the case.

Or don't, flunk out of a school, become a failure and move in with your parents until age 47. Ya know, whatever....
