I need help fixing TV.

Anyone here a tv repair person or know someone who is? My 33" RCA tv won't turn on. Model# is F32672SB and chassis# is CTC187CL3. I opened the sucker and found the fuse blown. I thought this would be a simple repair and I replaced the fuse but the moment I plug the tv back in the fuse blows again. What could be wrong here? I've been looking for every bit of info in fixing this tv before I pay someone else to do it. Most likely I'll sell it for the price of the repair.

I think you are better off having a repair person look at it. TV repair is not for the untrained.

Heh... be careful. People have died trying to play with monitors and TVs without the proper training. Those things hold one hell of a charge, even after being unplugged. And the charge lasts a LONG time.

It could be a various of problems. You should have a skilled tech look at it.

Causes

1. Shorted High voltage Transformer
2. shorted diodes
3. basicly what it's doing somewhere along the line the tv's shorting out to ground causing the fuse to blow.

It might be cheeper to just purchase a new tv. Unless it is warrantied.

Somebody told me to check the PTC thermistor and it broke off when I tried to bend it a little to see what was printed on its face. I soldered the disk back to it's legs. Do you think it's still good or should I replace it? Also, if this thermistor is supposed to be less conductive when heated, how come when I tried to heat it with my soldering iron and use my multimeter, it still shows low resistance. Could this mean it's shorted?

I checked the Q4401F transistor inline and showed signs of shorting. I removed it and tested again with my multimeter but I don't know which leg is the emitter and catcher. Anyway, when I connect the positive terminal of the multimeter to 2 and the negative terminal to 1 I get a resistance of roughly 1K; when negative terminal is connected to 3 it's infinity(no movement on the needle). When negative terminal is connected to 1 and positive terminal connected to 3, I get a resistance of roughly 1.5K. All other leg combinations I get infinity.
Is it fair to say this transistor is damaged?

I also did an inline test of 3 transistor as pictured below. They showed signs of short, but all three transistors had identical results. I wonder if they could be damaged.
