I'm trying to get an audio CD burned in the next few minutes (it's important), but I can't get this CD writer to work. It's an external USB Que! Drive, and I'm using Windows XP Pro. I'm borrowing the drive, and I didn't get any software with it. I downloaded the drivers from www.qps-inc.com, and it seems like it installs ok, but under Device Manager it's listed as a Mitsumi CR4802-TE USB Device. Windows Media Player doesn't detect it as a device to be written to, and it sounds in the help file for WinXP like I should be able to double click the drive and Windows will bring up a place to put files that are to be written to the CD, but it just gives an error message when I double-click the drive. I already downloaded the CD-RW update from windowsupdate.com.

Please help!

Thanks!

I had this same problem with xp. Microsoft indicated that I needed to get the basic or platinum version of ezcd creator, then load the patch via the roxio website. The cd burning software in xp is a very wattered down version of ezcd creator. In my opinion it leaves a whole lot to be desired. Since I obtained an oem version of ezcd creator basic and downloaded the patch from roxio, I haven't experienced any problems.
I have experienced some very frustrating problems with Nero even after the patch, but that was when they first came out with their xp comatible software. I haven't tried it since.

Well the fast part in your title wont come true, but at least you know where you can get something to solve your problem...

Nero is the best. I suggest you download it.

Well, I didn't get anything to work. I had to do something else with (mixed results). I'm praying it worked! I had to leave town and ask someone else to burn the CD for me. :)

I did download some other burning program, but it didn't detect a burner either, so I don't think Nero will help this situation (but I will keep it in mind for the future, since I'm planning to get a 24/10/40 Plextor, and their software suite isn't compatibe with WinXP). WinXP has been pretty good other than with these problems, and the burner installed the same way on my Win2k laptop as it did on WinXP. I never did try any burning software on Win2k, so I don't know if it would have detected a burner there or not.

Thanks for the input!
