Alright, so i back up everything that i have on a 80 gb usb hard drive. Anyways, somehow it got corrupted as it is fat 32. I have saved all my important files on it that i want to keep, especially a document that i need to have asap. Its for a 20 page paper thats due by thursday of this week. Sorry for the late notice.... I am using a app called "Recover my files v3.98). It will show the files i need, but it wont let me save them. So, does anyone know a free data recovery program???

Yes, remember it is illegal to get a hacked edition of for example Recover my files or GetFilesBack from BitTorrent.

Oynaz is exactly right regarding the illegallity of getting a program from bittorrent. But if you do, don't feel to bad. My trojan will get your credit card number, and you will get your term paper back. It's all good.

I've only used two in the past. I've only had to use them once each so I can't really say they are better than anything else. Got both from Download.com. Both were trial versions so they had somewhat limited functionality, but they did what I needed. They have lots of simular programs there. Another place I go for free software is Sourceforge.net. Lots of cool stuff there, although it sometimes isn't as user friendly or complete, but at least it's a full version.

One was eData Unerase, the trial version did everything I needed. It didn't do pictures since they wanted you to buy the full version for that.

The second was PC Inspector File Recovery, it did pictures but was a little slow.

Well, if it's really super important, you might need to pay for something. I bought R-studio. It's been quite helpful on a few occasions.

Here is what you are looking for:

After a hard drive crash, I was able to recover photos from the flash card they were taken with using their flash recovery tool, after the photos had not only been deleted, the card had nearly been filled with new photos. That is some amazing stuff.

If you had posted in a different forum that more people read, you would have gotten more replies faster. This is not highly technical,
