well apparently my motherboard is a A2 epox 8rda+ revision board.. it dont seem to clock very well over 190 fsb, but since im running my cpu at 193fsb x 12.5 i think im doing ok!! at first i thought it was the memory i have holding me back, (corsair XMS3200LL 1024mbs of the stuff) but before i knew it would go to about 206 sometimes 208 depending on what it felt like i guess!! if i can get a motherboard that will let me do more than 200fsb, i will be very very happy!
i will be looking for getting a C1 revision aka A1 (so im told!!) and hopefully then i can get above 200 fsb and then maybe, i might be able to manage my goal of 2.5ghz.. i guess it would be nice to see 2.66ghz because one of the guys at work, just bought a intel 2.66ghz (he dont like amd) and i would be rather inpressed to get the same speed as he!! espiecally on air!!
the falcon rock seems to be doing the job really well, although reviews dont rate it that highly, i have had no problems with it nor have i got any complaints.. i only wish it would cool better, but with a 1.8v vcore (can i go higher?) i feel its not doing bad at all.. i dont think i get anything over 48C under full load, my room temp is never above 22C so, i feel if i have a case temp of 18 to 23C i think im doing pretty darn good!

Nice FSB you're having anyway. It's likely I'll never going to run this board any higher than stock speed, as I run stability-critical programs with it.

The memory issue is usually related to heat. It really doesn't need many degrees changes in case temp to make a difference on what speed you can run your memory on. It's true what they say about the C1. It has a newer revision of the nVidia's SPP North/South Bridges and the required 200 FSB (and over) is reachable. Comparing OC'd AMD to a similar speed Intel (assuming it's running at stock speed of 2.66GHz) isn't smart as the boards have their differences, too and that reflects to performance. Unless you're only comparing the MHz readouts, of course 🙂

1.80V on your Athlon? You are seriously pushing it to the limits. Prepare for a replacement soon. It will not last for too long with that sort of overvoltage. 😉 For the case temperature being lower than your room temp tells me you have very good ventilation there. Good for you (25.6°C in the room, 30°C in case). 🙂

well, personnally i think its doing well, windows 98 is running very well and so will xp when it gets installed!! i am having no problems whatsoever with stablity.. i have had to back it down, but thats just due to windows being pooh .. :disgust: 🙂
well i have the corsair stuff with the heatsinks on, so i hope that it might be helping out there somewhere!!
well i might be buying the 8rd3a+ as im told that would garentee the stepping of C1 aka A1.. which i hope will make this thing go even faster!!
nah, i just like annoying him as he spent £150 on a cpu, i only spent £45 and mines faster 🙂 dont you just love these sorts of things about amd ? i love it!!
i didnt think that the cpu was hurting at that voltage, i have seen peoples up to and over 2v before.. if it goes, i have another 2 here anyway 🙂 i dont care, its only money!!! 😀
how long you think it will last then? month? 6 months? im sure it will be fine... 😉
