Hello there, this is my first post here, Im usually posting on Tomshardware.com, but I'm in deep **** with this problem that I cannot fix on my own, so Im asking for help anywhere I can find, because I really need it.

Alright, my ISP are not helping me here, they gave me this router to use with my internet service and they will not provide any further support with my problem, which is basically opening a port for my uTorrent to work properly, but the thing is when I try to access my router it asks me a username and password, I tried the manufacturer's default config, but they seem to have changed it and even though I tried resetting it to manufacturer's defaults (Pushed the button for over 1 minute) and unplugging the whole thing, it still won't accept the admin/admin default, my guess is that they have a slightly modified firmware.

What I need help on is to get inside by any means, Im open to attempting to hacking my own router, flashing firmwares, whatever is necessary.

make / model?

so when you told your ISP that you are unable to access the web interface even after a factory reset, they said too bad?

Forgot that, It's a Paradyne 6212-I2. Yup pretty much, they basically told me that their services were only to offer the connection and no support whatsoever for that, then I asked them for the password to do it myself, and they wouldn't let me have it and they won't send a technician either.

can you log into the web interface with user/user?

that reset button is your only way back to factory defaults. have you tried powering the device on with the button pressed in?

you did get the device for free, and beggers cant be choosers. as an alternative, call them and inquire about cancelling your service because you cant use the connection how you please. that usually lights a fire under someones butt...

last but not least, but your own dsl modem / router ;)

I would rephrase the issue.

Instructions on how to open is available in the Router's manual.

http://www.zhone.com/support/m...62/6212-A2-ZB23-10.pdf

So your acute problem is ?Hacking? the ISP Router.

Changing parameters on a Router is a common need, so it is strange that the ISP would block it.

I think it is enough of a reason to ask for service termination and sign with another ISP.

I'll think about that, but the thing is, down here we only have 2 high speed ISPs and Im getting this 1.5MB connection really cheap so Im trying my best to get it down on my own, if there's nothing else to do, i'll have to step down to the other provider. I thought of asking the technician to come over to fix a "fake problem" and have my PC keylog the password :p but im open to any other suggestions.

I use utorrent and never had to open ports on my router. I just enable the encryption option in utorrent if that does anything. Other than that I never opened up a port or set this PC to DMZ.

You could be running upnp which automatically forwards the port.

Encryption is for bypassing packet shaping by certain ISPs. If your ISP doesn't packet shape torrents, then there isn't really a point in enabling it.
