I need and explanation

Hi guys, I was wondering ifsomeone could explain to me what is the use of the empty slots on my laptop. I will attach a photo and say that my configuration is quite old (2008). I stumbled upon this curiosity when I opened the cover (I wanted to know what memory I use cause I want to buy bigger ones and just realized that I have the possibility to add some stuff). Could they be bluetooth or another wifi?

The one on the bottom right is for a dial-up modem card and the one on the upper left is for a Bluetooth card. It's not uncommon to have extra connections like that without the cards. It's almost always cheaper to just use the same motherboard as often as possible and just install the cards if needed based on different models. Your memory is DDR2 PC2-6400. The S is irrelevant since 99.9999% of all laptop ram is Non-ECC. You might have 3GB install (a single 1GB as seen on the tag and a possible single 2GB) which is a very common configuration for 2008 so make sure you have a 64-bit operating system before going beyond 3 Gig.

Thank you. That is right, I consider on upgrading on a 4gb of ram and also in buying an SSD. So, bluetooth. If I only knew a few years ago when I purchesed an USB dongle.
One last question, do you think it would be a good ideea to change my optical drive with a HDD caddy since I want to change my actual HDD with a modest 120GB SSD? No money for bigger capacity.
