amazon.co.uk was the best hidden secret for college textbooks about 5 years ago. (yes, for USA students)

not sure about how the price is now

I've have purchased all of my college books from amazon. or rather, the amazon market place, generally cheaper than amazon itself. Only 1 time have I had an issue with someone there, and after I reported it to amazon, they took care of it.

Go to class the first week, and see what the prof recomends. Sometimes they will say they will not use the book for their course, even tho its listed as require in the campus bookstore. So keeping that in mind, buy it online.

I borrowed a book from a friend for this summer, and his book is only "authorized for sale int he Peoples Rupublic of China". So every but the actuall book contents has a mix of chinese characters and enlish on it. I love it. Also, the book is softcover over the hard cover which is a plus.

yeah you can get text books for soooo cheaply from places like china/india or something. the actual content is 100% identical but it's like 10 dollars a book (nobody could afford it if priced the same as in NA). i've never actually taken advantage of it though

do any of your schools use dogears?

http://www.dogears.net/

they have a program that enables students to buy used textbooks from other students. it's a pretty good deal. and the company (actually, it's two friends of mine) doesn't get any money off of the transaction.

it took off very well at columbia when i was there, and i didn't realize that it expanded to so many schools. if your school actually uses them, though, i suggest you take advantage. :)

my school is not on the list. I think Amazon or ecampus is going to be the one.

Powells Books

I've bought several textbooks here, at killer prices, like about 50% off.

What they called "used" arrived perfectly new, pages still stuck together, cover not creased because never been opened.

I will uise them again. Very happy customer.

So i ended using Half.com and Amazon, If i had bought the books through the school or its partners it would have cost 268.25$. Through half.com and Amazon.com i got the books for 194.71 and saved 73.54$
