I need a wireless repeater that can hide the SSID

Before you start: This is not about security. This is about having a discrete wireless extension. There's some people I don't want to know that I've extended the WiFi and they are not tech savvy.

What I need:

- The existing base router broadcasts a normal WiFi network with an unhidden SSID
- I need to extend that WiFi with a hidden SSID

Can any device do this? I am guessing DDWRT can do this, but I'd prefer any other solution before DDWRT if it is out there. I have had about a dozen routers and I have never had a positive DDWRT experience.

Does the WAN link have to be wireless, or just the LAN-side?

In my home my main router has three more routers hanging off of it by wired connection and in part to extend the reach of the wireless feature. Those hanging routers act like wireless switches and the SSID isn't broadcasted.

If you are talking about WDS bridging, I don't think that is possible, but I've never tried.

The WAN link need be wireless too I'm afraid. Looks like what I need just doesn't exist... thanks guys
